![]() Ofra WeinbergerBSc, Brooklyn College; PhD, Harvard University. Dr Weinberger received a PhD in the field of cellular and molecular immunology from Harvard University, where she was a National Science Foundation Scholar in the laboratory of Dr Baruj Benacerraf and Dr Steven Burakoff. She continued her postdoctoral training at Harvard in the Department of Genetics. Dr Weinberger joined Columbia University in September 1987 as an assistant professor in the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics. At Columbia, her research focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying HIV pathogenesis. In light of her interest in facilitating the development and application of insights derived from basic science to the clinical arena, she became involved in technology transfer at the University, and joined Columbia Innovation Enterprise as an associate director in July 1995. In November 2000, she was appointed director for Health Sciences. |
